The Terps have a new hoops target on the radar. They have had preliminary talks with former Wake Forest wing Damari Monsanto.

The 6-foot-6, 225-pounder is originally from South Florida and began his college career at East Tennessee State. He had a breakout season a couple of years ago, averaging 13.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and a steal per game. He also shot 40.5% from three with 87 makes! He did all that in just 27 games.

The problem is that he tore his patella tendon towards the end of the season and wasn't fully recovered until the end of this past season, when he played in just 11 games. Still, even playing just spot minutes, he was 17-49 from beyond the arc. If he can come back fully healthy and healed for his 6th year, he could possibly be a major contributor. During the 22-23 season, he scored 28 points at Notre Dame on 8-13 shooting from beyond the arc. He had 25 points on 7-15 shooting from deep versus UVA and 22 points on 6-12 shooting from deep at Rutgers. In all, he had seven games of 20-or-more points.

The connection here is his agent, who also represents Isaiah Whitehead, the former Seton Hall All-American that was recruited by and played for Willard. He also happens to have played AAU ball for Team Breakdown, an Under Armour sponsored team based out of South Florida, and was teammates with Selton Miguel (as well as Jamal Mashburn Jr. and current NBA forward Kai Jones).

While it has been pretty quiet for a while, this one feels like it has some traction and he's be a really good get at this point in the offseason.

And for those wondering, he'd be a 6th-year senior. Redshirted as a true frosh, played during COVID season, played three additional seasons and still has one left since COVID season does not count and he redshirted the year before.
