assuming the rumors are true...is that they already have a huge name in place. I cannot abide another costly and lengthy search for a coach after the season is over that yields someone who is not top shelf/number one candidate type. We need a big name that gets everyone's attention.
I can think of a few who might fit the bill, but I'll hold my powder.
That said, I cannot imagine that we will run the rest of the season and risk losing all of the excellent recruits. They sure as hell better have someone in mind, a name they can whisper to the recruits even if they don't tell us.
To do this in a vacuum and take a chance of losing Haskins is too big a risk. Have a name and even more might come.
To be clear, I wouldn't expect them to hire the coach now, or even name the coach publicly until the season is over.
