COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Senior Curtis Corley, junior Jared Bernhardt and sophomore Logan Wisnauskas were all named to the 2019 All-Big Ten men’s lacrosse team as announced by the conference offices Tuesday. Corley and Bernhardt were both first team selections, while Wisnauskas was named to the second team.
This is Corley’s second career All-Big Ten team selection after garnering second team honors last year. The senior close defender anchored the Maryland defense this season, starting in all 14 games while totaling 15 ground balls and eight caused turnovers. The Medford Lakes, N.J. native helped keep eight opponents under 10 goals this season, while also posting his first career assist in Maryland’s 16-12 win over Michigan on April 6.
Bernhardt was named a first team selection for the second straight season after an impressive junior campaign. The Longwood, Fla native leads the Terps in goals with a career-high 42 through 14 games, while racking up 24 assists, 18 ground balls and eight caused turnovers. Bernhardt has nine hat tricks on the year, including a streak of six straight games with a hat trick from March 16 to April 20. He has three game-winning goals to his name in 2019, and his 4.71 ponts per game and 3.00 goals per game average both rank inside the top-15 nationally. He was also named one of 25 nominees nationally for the Tewaaraton Award honoring the top male college lacrosse player in the United States.
Wisnauskas was tabbed an All-Big Ten selection for the first time in his career after a record-breaking sophomore campaign in College Park. The Sykesville, Md. native leads the Terps in points (69) and assists (31), and ranks 11th in the nation in points per game (4.93). Wisnauskas became the first Terrapin to ever post back-to-back 50-point seasons as a freshman and sophomore, and is currently five points away from breaking Jack Heim’s sophomore points record (74) set in 1965. He has posted three eight point games, becoming just the third player in school history to post three such games in the same season.
Maryland will return to action this Thursday, May 2 in a rematch with Johns Hopkins in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament. The game is set to faceoff at 7:30 pm and will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.
