COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland men’s lacrosse team has earned an at large bid to the 2019 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Tournament, and will play at No. 6 seed Towson University in the First Round on Sunday, May 12 at 2:30 pm.

The Terrapins (11-4) are making their 42nd NCAA Tournament appearance, and NCAA-best 17th straight. Maryland also secured its NCAA-best 17th consecutive 10-win season earlier in the season.

Head coach John Tillman sports a 20-7 all-time record in the NCAA Tournament (all at Maryland), which currently ranks 10th all-time among coaches in tournament wins. Additionally, the Terrapins' 20 wins since Tillman took over the program in 2011 is the most in the nation, ahead of Duke (16) and Denver (14).

The Terps have been to seven NCAA semifinals in eight seasons (2011-12, 2014-18) under head coach John Tillman, including five national title game appearances. The Terrapins received the No. 1 overall seed three straight seasons from 2016-18, went unseeded in 2011 and 2012, the 7-seed in 2014 and the 6-seed in 2013 and 2015.

The winner of Maryland’s first round matchup with Towson will face either third-seeded Virginia or Robert Morris in the quarterfinals the following weekend in Hempstead, N.Y.

This is Maryland’s seventh all-time unseeded appearance (2012, 2011, 2009, 1997, 1994 & 1993) in the NCAA Tournament, and the third unseeded trip under John Tillman. Maryland advanced to back-to-back National Championship games under Tillman in 2011 and 2012 when the Terps were unseeded.

Ticket information for Saturday’s game will be shared once available.
