COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The University of Maryland men's lacrosse team (8-5) has received the seventh overall seed in the 2024 NCAA Tournament and will face Princeton in its First Round game.
The Terps will host the Tigers on Saturday, May 11 at 7:30 pm. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU and played in College Park at SECU Stadium.
Princeton (11-4) is an automatic qualifier into the tournament by way of winning the Ivy League Conference. The Tigers are making their third consecutive tournament appearance and 23rd overall. Maryland holds a 35-12-1 advantage against Princeton all-time, including a 13-7 win overall this season and a 13-8 win in the 2022 NCAA Tournament Semifinal.
The Terrapins are making their 46th NCAA Tournament appearance and NCAA-best 21st straight.
Tillman's 13 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances is the longest-ever streak for a Maryland coach, increasing his lead over the legendary Bud Beardmore's nine-tournament streak from 1971-79. The Terps have been to nine NCAA semifinals in 11 full seasons (2011-12, 2014-18, 2021, 2022) under Tillman, including seven national title game appearances and two championships.
The winner of Maryland's first round matchup will advance to face the winner of Duke/Utah in the NCAA Quarterfinals at Hofstra in Hempstead, NY on Saturday, May 18.
