ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Freshmen Logan Wisnauskas and Bubba Fairman combined for eight points and senior Dan Morris made 10 saves to lead the No. 2 Maryland men’s lacrosse team to a 13-5 victory over No. 17 Michigan Saturday at U-M Stadium.

It was the Terps’ (8-1, 1-0 B1G) seventh straight victory in conference openers, including a 4-0 mark in the Big Ten. It was also Michigan’s first-ever loss at U-M Stadium.

The Terrapin defense was tremendous throughout the game, holding the Michigan (7-3, 0-1 B1G) attack line 0-for-14 shooting and forcing nine turnovers among the trio.

Sophomore Drew Harrison changed the game in the third quarter when he scored a spectacular transition goal – the first of his career – to spark a debilitating 7-0 Maryland scoring run to close the game. The Terps held a narrow 6-5 lead prior to the Harrison goal.

Fairman scored all three of his goals during the game-ending run, but it was Wisnauskas and Austin Henningsen who put the game away with back-to-back goals less than nine seconds apart with four minutes remaining.

It was a back-and-forth affair to open the game, as the Terps and Wolverines traded goals early on. Wisnauskas opened the scoring just less than six minutes into the game, and senior Colin Giblin added a second after Michigan’s first goal.

The teams again traded goals, including Bryce Young’s second goal in as many games, before the Terps used a three-goal run to take a 6-3 lead into the break.

Maryland had a spectacularly clean game, turning the ball over just six times and scoring on 2-of-3 man-up opportunities. The Terps lead the nation in both categories.
