We're about 45 minutes from opening faceoff between the Terps and Irish in Philly.
Obviously, Notre Dame beat the Terps earlier this season, but Maryland has looked like a completely different team in the NCAA tourney, having exploded for 16 goals vs. Princeton, beating Duke and then doubling up UVA while holding them to just 6 goals.
This run has been all about Weirman and McNaney. When you dominate at the faceoff X and you get big saves, it leads to a more confident offense that gets more good scoring opportunities. Tillman and Phipps have done a tremendous job of getting this offense back on track late in the season.
This team played one of the toughest schedules in the country, has the best close defender in the game and most importantly, they have CHAMPIONSHIP playoff experience. Unfortunately, so too does Notre Dame, as they are defending national champs. This should be a great game and the Irish better not take the Terps lightly or they will be watching Maryland hold the championship trophy for the 2nd time in 3 years.
