The Terps have landed a commitment from Northeastern 6-foot-9 center Collin Metcalf. The rising senior was named to the CAA All-Defensive Team last season and was one of the top shot blockers nationally, finishing top 10 in blocks per game (2.4) and total blocks (78). Not much of a scorer, but gives the Terps an elite rim protector that can also provide rebounding. Had double-digit rebounds three times last season and had five or more blocks in a game five times.
This addition obviously gives the Terps more depth in the front court while also taking some pressure off of Payne, who will be a focal point on both ends of the court.
