Again, not a ton to report today, we got one less individual session than we normally do today, so not even 20 minutes of watching drills. That said, will give a few observations, update some injuries and post a couple minutes of practice video.
- On the injury front, Lorenzo Harrison, Marcus Minor, Jordan Mosley and freshman TE Malik Jackson all sidelined today. As far as Sean Savoy goes, he's back practicing today and looks to be at or near full strength.
- Watched the QBs for a good portion of what we were able to see today and Jackson continues to look like the frontrunner. The thing that really separates him from the rest of the group is his touch and poise. Other QBs in this group, Legendre, Piggy, etc., have the arm strength, but no one else seems to have the touch Jackson does on both deep balls and dump offs. While other guys are firing the ball in as fast as they can, Jackson calmly gets himself set and throws a fast but catchable ball.
After Jackson today I'd say Pig probably looked like the clear No. 2, throwing a nice deep ball as well as a number of good intermediate balls. DeSue, in particular, did not seem to be having a good day. He was missing receivers all over the place. Today was really the first day where DeSue didn't seem to have it.
- As far as the wideouts go, the competition is going to continue to be fierce. I've got Demus pegged as the starter at the Z position. Right now, I think Darryl Jones is your starter at the X position with Brian Cobbs nipping at his heels and one of Savoy, Turner or Lewis at the slot.
- Maryland hosted a large number of grassroots football kids from Baltimore during practice today. There was also a Big Ten official from Chicago here observing the on-field refs.
- There were scouts from Atlanta and Tampa Bay at practice.
