Maryland better be prepared to offer Mark Turgeon a boatload of money.

Did anyone see the new deal Gregg Marshall just got to remain at Wichita State? Being courted by Alabama, who admittedly was looking for a high profile name to compete against Bruce Pearl at Auburn for attention as well as results, obviously gave Marshall some bargaining leverage. However, even factoring that in, Marshall's compensation just rose from his current $1.784 million to $3.3 million (for each of the next seven years) to reamin with the Shockers. We're talking Wichita State here, certainly not one of the marquee coaching jobs in America.

Mark Turgeon has a lot of reasons to smile lately. Great turnaround year. Positioned even better for 2015 - 2016, just received a commitment from one of the best high school players in the country, and in a position of need (center), may very well get the #1 5th year grad player (Lee), and has his program receiving a ton of positive P R which can only help recruiting.

Thanks to Gregg Marshall, Mark and a lot of other Division 1 college roundball coaches have another reason to smile today.

By the way, with all of the favorable commentary being directed at Kyle Tarp now, it's probably a great idea to make sure he's loved by wrapping him up long-term if possible.

Finally, saw where Coach K is raking in over $9 million annually from Duke. No wonder, he didn't need to move on to the NBA.
The pastures are pretty green for him in Durham.
