ROSEMONT, Ill. – The three-time reigning Big Ten champion Maryland women’s basketball team announced its complete 2017-18 schedule Wednesday.
The Terrapins’ nonconference schedule is highlighted by matchups with 2017 NCAA Final Four teams South Carolina and Connecticut. Maryland hosts the defending NCAA champion Gamecocks on Monday, Nov. 13. The Terps travel to Storrs to face the Huskies on Sunday, Nov. 19. Maryland will travel south for the Miami Thanksgiving Tournament on Nov. 24 and 25, and will face Virginia in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Wednesday, Nov. 29.
In Big Ten Conference play, Maryland will host Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Ohio State and Purdue. The Terrapins will compete in home/away matchups with Michigan State, Nebraska and Rutgers. Maryland has won the Big Ten regular season and tournament titles in each of its three seasons in the conference.
The Terps open Big Ten play against Illinois in the XFINITY Center on Thursday, Dec. 28. Maryland takes a short trip to Penn State for a New Year’s Eve matchup. The Terrapins return home in 2018 on Thursday, Jan. 4 vs. Iowa before traveling to Wisconsin on Sunday, Jan. 7.
Maryland hosts a three-game home stand with Michigan State (Thursday, Jan. 11), Indiana (Wednesday, Jan. 17) and Ohio State (Monday, Jan. 22).
After taking on Northwestern on the road on Thursday, Jan. 25, the Terps return to action in College Park on Thursday, Feb. 1 to face Rutgers. Maryland hits the road for three straight games, including at Nebraska (Sunday, Feb. 4), at Michigan State (Thursday, Feb. 8) and at Rutgers (Sunday, Feb. 11).
The Terps take on Purdue, who they faced in the 2017 Big Ten Tournament championship game, in their penultimate home game on Thursday, Feb. 11 before traveling to Minneapolis to face Minnesota on Sunday, Feb. 18. Maryland faces Michigan in its last road game on Thursday, Feb. 22 before hosting Nebraska on Sunday, Feb. 25 to close the regular season.
The 2018 Big Ten Tournament will be held at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis from March 1-5. The NCAA Tournament will begin March 16-19 at campus sites. The 2018 Final Four will be held at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
The Terps finished the 2016-17 season with a 32-3 overall record, including 15-1 in Big Ten play.
