Had our media BBQ at Locks' house last night. Obviously, can't share everything, but thought I'd share a few things from the event...
- Not sure how I didn't know this already, but learned from Locks that he played basketball at Towson his senior year. It was the year after they went to back-to-back NCAA's in 1990 and 1991. Locks has a full basketball court behind the house (house used to belong to Jerome Williams of G'town/NBA) and he's still got a nice looking stroke from beyond the arc.
- Locksley got the idea to do a media BBQ at his house from Ron Zook when he was at Illinois. Said Zook did it every year to signify a fresh start to a new season and said he plans on making it an annual tradition at Maryland, also.
- The entire staff was there, many with their spouses. The one coach not there was CB coach Cory Robinson who's currently doing an internship with the New Orleans Saints.
- Just a quick general thought about this staff after last night. A lot of staffs preach stuff like family, one game at a time, etc but they don't necessarily buy into what they are selling. But I feel like this group truly believes in what they are preaching and many of them have seen first hand how it can be successful working for a Nick Saban or Dabo Swinney. I expect that to show on the field this season.
