After being out-rebounded in 3 of their last 4, the Terps won the battle on the boards against a very good rebounding Valpo team. The Terps also did a good job of taking, and making, more free throws than their opponent, just like they have all season.
West Virginia is going to be a challenge, but definitely saw some positives come out of today's game.
And what can you say about the freshmen Nickens and Trimble. Melo has a double-double in his first-ever NCAA tournament game and Nickens goes off for 4 threes in the first half to keep Maryland in it. Great win, but their performances also showed the future is bright for this program.
