Jaeden Mustaf is set to commit on Sept. 14, as he announced a few days back that he's down to a final six that includes Maryland, NC State, Indiana, Florida State, Ga. Tech and Arkansas. Have been digging around since learning he'd be committing next month and it seems the Terps are in a pretty decent position heading into his official visit to College Park which starts Sept. 1.

Before Mike Jones arrived at Maryland, if you had asked me where Mustaf was heading it would have been NC State, and I'm not sure it was even close. But Mike Jones has an excellent relationship with both Jaeden (coached him at DeMatha) and his father (their time at DeMatha overlapped) and has gotten the Terps squarely in the mix. Honestly, before even doing any digging, the timing of his Maryland visit and commitment scream that the Terps are possibly now the team to beat. But in asking around, have heard everything from NC State still could be the team in the lead to Ga. Tech now being the team to beat (Jamie Shaw, who used to work for Rivals, made a prediction for Ga. Tech). Have also heard a bit of buzz for Florida State.

The one thing I think I can confidently say is that it seems like Arkansas is out. He is yet to visit the Razorbacks and has no additional visits planned other than to Maryland. It also feels like Indiana is on the outside looking in also, just based on some things I'm hearing.

Another interesting factor is the fact that Jaeden is switching high schools again, this time going to play for Overtime Elite. I think the move from North Carolina to Atlanta right after the visit to Ga. Tech is the reason for the prediction to the Yellow Jackets vs. any real info, based on talking to a few folks. It is also worth noting that a coach who's very well liked and respected in the DMV in former PVI assistant/TTO coach Doug Martin will be coaching for OTE this season. He coached numerous DeMatha kids that played for Jones on the EYBL circuit.

Bottom line, I can't confidently say I know where he's headed at this point. But it does seem like the Terps are right there at or near the top along with possibly NC State, Ga. Tech and FSU. It is also extremely advantageous for the Terps that they will host him for his final OV so close to his announcement along with the fact he has such a good relationship with Jones. I get the feeling that if Willard can knock Jerrod's socks off during the visit, there's an excellent chance he winds up a Terp.
