A couple of big hoops visitors expected on campus next weekend.
First, is 2020 five-star power forward Isaiah Todd, who is currently ranked No. 16 nationally in his class. The Terps are getting his first official visit. At one point he was ranked in the top 5 and he's a major talent.
Todd is originally from Baltimore and moved to Richmond in 8th grade, he played for John Marshall high school last season and helped them to a state title. He and his mom decided, however, that they wanted him to be closer to his trainer in NC, so he transferred to Trinity Christian in Raleigh. He had been playing AAU ball for Team Loaded Va., but switched this past spring to Team Loaded N.C. He's also spent some time with local Baltimore EYBL AAU program Team Melo each of the past two summers. There is some talk he will spend all of his final AAU season with Team Melo, but that is just speculation at this point and not a done deal. Bino Ranson is the lead recruiter for Todd and has done a good job getting the first official visit.
All of that said, he's going to be an extremely tough get for the Terps. With the move to North Carolina, it's been known it was just a matter of time before UNC offered and it isn't a coincidence they did so this past weekend while on an unofficial visit just before his Maryland visit. Todd's trainer, Drew Hanlen, also has several star clients who played at Kansas and now star in the NBA, including Brad Beal and Kelly Oubre of the Wizards along with the 76ers Joel Embiid. Bill Self has been all over Todd and visited him this week with his entire staff.
The second big official visitor expected next weekend is recently offered 2020 local three-star point guard Marcus Dockery. Despite being currently rated a three-star, Dockery is ranked No. 149 in the Rivals150. He was extremely impressive during the July live period and should see his stock continue to rise. He spent last season at Roosevelt in D.C., but has transferred to Melo Trimble's alma mater, Bishop O'Connell, and will play in the WCAC this season.
As far as Dockery goes, Maryland is his biggest offer to date--they offered Sept. 20, along with Seton Hall--and this could look like a brilliant move this time next year. If he stars in the WCAC, all of the big boys are likely to come knocking. But there is definitely mutual interest here with Dockery and getting him on campus now should help significantly down the road. Expect to hear much more about Dockery.
