Per a source, Maryland was expected to speak with Washington (Pa.) First Love Academy 2021 forward Mustapha Amzil this evening.
Amzil is originally from Finland and arrived in the US earlier this week. Matt Brady is expected to be the lead on this one as he apparently has a connection to Amzil. Boston College, Dayton and St. John's also interested early on.
The 6-foot-9 forward played for Helsinki Basketball Academy in the 1st Division of the Finnish league last year. He also played for the Finland U18 team in the 2019 FIBA U18 European Championship, where he averaged 12.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists.
Really like this kid's tape. Seems to run the floor well, has a solid handle and isn't shy about attacking the basket and can shoot the ball from deep. But I think this one is definitely one to keep an eye on moving forward.
