Five-star OT Immanuel Iheanacho has new leader amid official visit changes

Immanuel Iheanacho, who is the No. 5 player in the 2026 class, details his recruitment, including a new No. 1 school and change to his official visit schedule.

Five-star offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho is shuffling some of his official visits, planning to get out in the spring to see several schools and has a decision timeframe.

The Bethesda (Md.) Georgetown Prep standout also has a new school setting the pace, and he said he will bump his Georgia official visit to make one there instead.

The 6-foot-6 1/2, 345-pound Iheanacho added he is finding a balance between the academic workload of Georgetown Prep while making strides in his recruitment.

"Oregon is really No. 2 at the moment," said Iheanacho, who previously had the Ducks as the top option. "Maryland is my No. 1. Penn State is my No. 3, and 'Bama is my No. 4 at the moment, if I had to give my top four schools, and my fifth school is probably Georgia. I like Maryland a lot."

In addition to those schools, Iheanacho said Florida, LSU, Auburn and Texas A&M are in the running for spring visits, and officials to those programs could be set. He does not have any spring trips set, but several officials are locked in.

The biggest uncertainty comes with Georgia. He visited campus in the winter and set an official visit for May 30-June 1 but he is changing it.

"I want to push my Georgia visit up to May 16-18 and OV to Maryland May 30-June 1," the No. 5 player in the 2026 class said. "If they can't move up, I will cancel it as a whole.

"Obviously, I don't want to do that. It's business and the coaches said if they brought it up to (coach) Kirby (Smart), they would basically just go onto the next prospect. I'm fine with that. I would just cancel my OV."

If Iheanacho cannot reschedule Georgia for mid-May, he said Auburn or LSU would be the likely official visit destination that weekend. He will officially visit Alabama June 6-8, Penn State June 13-15 and Oregon June 20-22.

His goal is to be committed before the start of his senior season so he can concentrate on football and his final year of high school.

"My grades are pretty high at Georgetown Prep," he said. "Trying to keep that balance has been tough but I think it's been a little easier because I am getting a bigger push toward a certain school.

"I plan on committing in August but from the looks of it I might commit before that. I am trying to contemplate whether I commit to the certain school on the OV or if I wait until after all my OVs and commit then."
