MOBILE, Ala. – University of Maryland seniors Dontay Demus Jr. and Chigoziem Okonkwo were named to the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List, which was announced on Thursday afternoon.

The Reese's Senior Bowl is the nation's most prestigious college all-star game, as it annually serves as the first step of the NFL Draft process. The Reese's Senior Bowl had 106 total players drafted and 36 selected in the first three rounds of the 2021 NFL Draft.

This year's game will be played on Feb. 5, 2022 and will be broadcast on the NFL Network. Practices will be televised live on ESPN and the NFL Network will host a daily recap show each evening in primetime.

Demus Jr., who was also selected to the Biletnikoff Award watch list, given to the nation’s top wide receiver, led the Terps in receptions (24), receiving yards (365) and receiving touchdowns (4) while starting all five games he played during his junior season. Demus hauled in a touchdown reception in four straight games to end the year, which was the longest active streak among any Power Five wide receiver in the nation at the time.

The Washington D.C. native enters his senior season with 78 receptions for 1,268 yards and 10 touchdowns in his career. He's currently tied for the 11th most touchdown grabs in program history. With one more receiving touchdown, Demus Jr. will move to ninth all-time at Maryland, tying Marcus Badgett (1989-92) and Barry Johnson (1987-90).

Okonkwo, who missed last season for medical reasons, has appeared in 24 games and scored six touchdowns since his arrival in College Park in 2018. He ranked second on the team in receptions (19) and third in receiving yards (201) during his sophomore campaign in 2019.

A Powder Springs, Georgia native, Okonkwo made an immediate impact as a freshman in 2018. He rushed three times for 72 yards with three touchdowns, while also catching six balls for 69 yards and one touchdown.

Maryland has had numerous players play in the Senior Bowl that have gone on to get drafted in the NFL, including Darnell Savage Jr. and Byron Cowart in 2019 and Sean Davis and Quinton Jefferson in 2016.
