Johns Hopkins earns share of Big Ten Championship and top seed in Big Ten Tournament
The Big Ten on Saturday announced the 2015 Big Ten Men’s Lacrosse Tournament bracket, with Johns Hopkins earning the No. 1 seed after sharing the Big Ten Championship with Maryland. The inaugural tournament will be hosted by the Terrapins at Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium from April 30-May 2. All session and single-session tickets are on sale at umterps.com.
The top four teams in the regular season standings advanced to the Big Ten Tournament. Maryland is the No. 2 seed with a 4-1 conference mark, followed by third-seeded Ohio State (3-2) and fourth-seeded Penn State (2-3). Johns Hopkins (4-1) defeated Maryland in the conference finale for both teams on Saturday night, claiming the top seed by way of a head-to-head tiebreaker. Maryland also clinched a share of the Big Ten Championship after its overtime win at Ohio State on April 18.
The tournament begins on Thursday, April 30, with Johns Hopkins taking on Penn State beginning at 5:30 p.m. ET, followed by Maryland facing Ohio State at approximately 8 p.m. The championship game on Saturday, May 2, will begin at 8 p.m., with the winner earning the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
