Big recruiting weekend starting to day for both football and basketball...
- On the hoops side, Maryland will host the top PG prospect on their board in Canadian Karim Mane. Maryland was his first big offer and Maryland coaches have been all over him, including a recent trip to Canada, ever since. I don't think it is likely he commits on the spot, but I do think it is possible. Would be a massive addition as his ranking is likely to keep soaring throughout the summer.
- On the football side, the Terps are set to host a couple of important visitors. First up is Ga. three-star DB Rashad Battle. Most of my colleagues down in Ga. believe he's going to stay down south and commit to Ga. Tech, but Maryland has a real shot here and if they blow him away, would not be surprised to see him commit to Maryland. The Terps have done well recently pulling kids from Ga., including Locksley who landed two DBs from the Peach State in last year's class.
The other big football visitor this weekend is Antwuan Powell-Ryland. This kid is a big-time rush end with an impressive offer list. Among the schools he is high on are Michigan and Oklahoma. Given Maryland's recent success with kids from the Tidewater area, the fact they are getting him on campus is significant. That said, I don't see much, if any of a chance that he might commit this weekend.
