COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland men’s lacrosse junior goalkeeper Kyle Bernlohr has been listed as one of 25 nominees for the 2015 Tewaaraton award, which is given annually to the top male college lacrosse player in the United States.

Bernlohr is in the midst of one the most impressive goalkeeping seasons in Maryland history, leading the nation in goals against average (5.59) by more than 1.2 goals and save percentage (.640).

The lone goalkeeper nominated for this season’s Tewaaraton Award, Bernlohr’s Terrapins currently rank second in the nation with a 12-1 overall record (4-0 B1G) and lead the nation in scoring defense, allowing just 5.77 goals per game. Maryland is the only team in the country allowing less than seven goals per game.

The Akron, Ohio, native is in his first season between the pipes as a starter for the Terps, after sitting behind four-time All-ACC honoree Niko Amato for three seasons.

The Terrapins have a chance to clinch the Big Ten title outright Saturday night at 8 pm in College Park, Md., as they host rival Johns Hopkins for “The Rivalry.”
