BB Lineup

Coach Willard hasn't asked for our input, but I'm curious as to your thoughts less than a week before the season starts.
Young, Reese and Harris-Smith may be givens, but who starts at the forward positions and which three players are your primary bench contributors? I'm curious to know who started the Cincy and UVA games as well.

Ga. three-star OL Donovan Thompson commits to Maryland

The Terps have landed a commitment this afternoon from Ga. three-star OL Donovan Thompson as he's coming off his first official visit this past weekend to Maryland. Thompson was originally supposed to take his first OV last weekend to Duke, but had to reschedule and instead took an unofficial visit to Mississippi State, picking up an offer from the SEC school last weekend. Other offers included Kentucky, Mizzou, Pitt, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech and more. A tackle prospect with great size at 6-foot-5, 311 pounds.

Big Ten football opponent rotation announced for 2024-2028 seasons

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference announced league opponents for the 2024-28 football seasons today using the Flex Protect XVIII Model, which was designed to accommodate an 18-team conference beginning with the 2024 season.

The Big Ten will continue to play a nine-game league schedule and protect 12 annual matchups, which includes Maryland-Rutgers.

Primary objectives of the Flex Protect XVIII Model, which incorporated extensive feedback from schools, athletic directors, and coaches, are to:

· Ensure all 18 schools play each Big Ten Conference opponent at least twice – one home and one road – in a five-year cycle.

· Balance travel each year by distance, regions of the conference and time zones

· Allow for flexibility as postseason formats evolve with the goal of creating the best pathway for member schools to access the expanded College Football Playoff.

The 2024 season will conclude with the annual Big Ten Football Championship Game, which will feature the top two teams in the overall conference standings at the end of the regular season, with the winner earning the Big Ten Championship. Tiebreaking procedures will be announced later.

From Time To Time, It Is Important To Remember

That we have had great moments, great players, great coaches, and great teams.

I refuse to believe we cannot again with the right Admin and Coaches given all the opportunities the DMV provides.

We need to hurry up, though, not getting any younger

Lest we forget

Rivals.com Big Ten preseason basketball poll

The Rivals network publishers got together and we did a preseason basketball poll similar to the halfway football poll we did a couple weeks ago. I was a bit surprised to see Illinois picked to finish ahead of Maryland.

The All-B1G team was pretty much a no-brainer. Those five guys are easily the five best in the league, IMO.

TBT: Looking at Maryland and PSU starters as recruits

It all starts in the trenches. While the Terps have similar talent at the skill positions, looking at the starters in the trenches as recruits and on paper it looks like a complete mismatch.

PSU with 4 four-stars along the O-line, including two in the top 100. And their center is an Ivy League transfer with experience.

On defense, PSU again has 3 four-stars along the D-line, two of which are top 250 guys.

Throw in the fact that they start two highly rated tight ends and have a big, talented RB and they are built to play Big Ten, smash mouth football. More at the link.

Bobby Knight dead....

in BWI airport before a flight to Reykjavik, I approached Bobby Knight and rather than say "oh, so glad to meet you Coach Knight", I said "recruiting in Reykjavik, Coach Knight?" He replied, "no, just going fishing in northern Iceland. Then, we had a bit of a talk. Interestingly, shortly after he was fired from Indiana, his wife was quoted as saying "he likes it when people come up and talk to him in airports."

Tyrese Chambers no longer with football team

FIU transfer and Baltimore native Tyrese Chambers has been removed from the team's roster and is no longer with the program, a Maryland spokesperson told the Baltimore Banner's Varun Shankar this morning.

He had some lingering injury issues in recent weeks and wasn't really seeing the field prior to that. The plan is to get fully healthy and prepare for the NFL Draft.

Seemed like a good kid that really wanted to be here the couple of times I spoke with him. But really have to question why he just left the team. Hearing some conflicting stuff, but don't like seeing a kid just leave like that.

Looking at the WR stats

One thing that really sticks out to me when looking at the WR stats is the fact that Felton leads the team in targets, but has the lowest reception% of the starting wideouts (54.7%). He has a team leading 53 targets but is just third on the team in catches with 29.

Jeshaun Jones, who leads the team in receptions, is at 72.8% and Kaden Prather, who is second in catches, is at 60%.

Snap Counts & PFF Grades: Northwestern

Here are your snap counts and PFF grades from Saturday's loss at Northwestern.

After a few days of not thinking about this one and coming at it with a clear head, it seems like the Terps did enough to win this game most of the time, with nearly 400 yards of total offense. They also had more first downs, better 3rd down conversion rate and less penalties (although penalty yards were equal).

The two turnovers were absolutely killer.
