COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Big Ten Conference and its television partners – BTN, CBS, FOX and NBC – have announced game times and television designations on Thursday for Maryland football's first three games of the 2024 season, as well as game time windows for two other games including the Terps' Homecoming game against USC on October 19.
Maryland will begin its 2024 season at home against UConn on August 31 with a Noon kickoff on FS1. This will be the fourth all-time meeting between the teams, with the Terps winning the last contest in 2013, 32-21.
The following week, Maryland will begin Big Ten play against Michigan State. The game will kickoff at SECU Stadium at 3:30 pm and be broadcast on Big Ten Network. It will mark the 15th all-time game between the Terps and Spartans with Maryland winning the last two.
The Terps will play their first road game on Saturday, Sept. 14 at Virginia. The battle between the former conference foes will kickoff at 8 pm and air on the ACC Network. Maryland has played Virginia in football 79 times, its most of any opponent in school history. The Terps are 45-32-2 all-time against the Cavaliers, including a 42-14 win in College Park last year.
Maryland also received kickoff window information for Homecoming games that it is involved in. The Terps will host USC for their annual Homecoming game on Saturday, Oct. 19 with the game to kickoff at Noon, 3:30 pm, 4 pm or 7:30 pm. It will mark the first all-time meeting between the new Big Ten foes.
The Terps will travel to Minnesota on Saturday, Oct. 26 for the Gophers Homecoming game that will kickoff at Noon, 3:30 pm or 4 pm. Television info and exact kick times for these Homecoming games will be chosen in the normal 12-/6-day selection process closer to the game date.

The 2024 season marks the first full year of the Big Ten’s new media rights agreements that provide unprecedented coverage and exposure for all league members with at least 55 games on broadcast networks throughout the season. This year also marks the first year that the Big Ten Football Championship Game will be played on CBS, as the network will present the first-ever matchup between No. 1 and No. 2 in the conference standings live from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis at 8 pm ET on Saturday, Dec. 7.
Maryland is coming off a 2023 season in which it posted an 8-5 record and defeated Auburn, 31-13, in the TransPerfect Music City Bowl. The Terps, who have won bowl games in three straight seasons for the first time in school history, have the fifth most wins amongst all Big Ten teams (16) over the last two seasons.
Maryland returns four starters on the offensive side of the ball in 2024, including All-Big Ten selections in running back
Roman Hemby and wide receivers
Tai Felton and
Kaden Prather. The high-powered Terrapins offense ranked Top 5 in the Big Ten in points per game (29.7), yards per game (387.3) and passing yards per game (278.9) last season.
Seven starters return for Maryland's defense, which allowed just 22.5 points per game in 2023, the fewest points allowed per game for a Terps defense since 2010 (22.2). Returners include Third-Team All-Big Ten selection
