COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland lacrosse team earned a slew of Big Ten honors between yearly awards and All-Big Ten teams, the conference announced Wednesday.

Maryland took home four of the five yearly awards with Logan Wisnauskas named Offensive Player of the Year, Luke Wierman named Specialist of the Year, Brett Makar named Defensive Player of the Year, and Head Coach John Tillman unanimously voted Coach of the Year.

The Terps placed the maximum of eight players on the All-Big Ten teams with five on the first line and the three others on the second team. The eight total Terps is a record as is the five honorees on the first team.

Wisnauskas has led the Terps' offense to the tune of 70 points (40G, 30A.) He recently became the program's all-time point leader and continues to roll on, currently with 307. The Maryland native has earned four weekly honors this season from the conference to give him 12 in his career, just one of many records he has secured this season.

Wisnauskas is the fourth Terp to earn the Offensive Player of the Year in seven total years. He joins Jared Bernhardt (2021), Connor Kelly (2018), and Matt Rambo (2017).

Wierman is having one of the best faceoff seasons in the nation with a 206 victories on a 65.8 percent rate. Wierman has snagged 103 groundballs and added eight goals as well. He's earned four weekly honors from the conference leading into this award. Wierman's current faceoff victories, faceoffs taken, and groundball totals are all top-ten in Terps' history with time to add.

He's the first Terp to ever be named Big Ten Specialist of the Year.

On defense, Brett Makar has led a unit holding foes to only 9.6 goals per game. Individually, the New York native has grabbed 22 groundballs and forced eight turnovers. He's also added an exhilarating goal against Virginia on March 19 and two assists to contribute on offense.

Makar becomes the fourth Terp to be named Defensive Player of the Year following Casey Ikeda (2015), Tim Muller (2017), and Nick Grill (2021).

At the helm, Coach Tillman has continued his excellence with a second straight undefeated regular season and a historic team. Tillman's squad has now won 24 consecutive regular season games and has a total record of 27-1 in the last two seasons. He's now won 154 games at Maryland with a 79.4 winning percentage.

This is TIllman's third Big Ten Coach of the Year honor and first since 2018. He was also named ACC Coach of the Year in 2014.

On the first team is Wisnauskas, Wierman, Makar, Keegan Khan, and Roman Puglise. The second team consists of Jonathan Donville, John Geppert, and Kyle Long. Wisnauskas and Wierman were unanimous selections to the team.
