COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Head coach John Tillman has announced the Maryland lacrosse program's 2022 schedule today. The Terps will play a highly competitive slate once again in 2022, facing six teams that made the 2021 NCAA Tournament.
Maryland's non-conference schedule includes a rematch of last year's National Championship game when the Terps meet Virginia on March 19.
After hosting 2021 NCAA Tournament qualifiers High Point and Loyola to open the season, the Terps will head north to face ACC powerhouse Syracuse on February 20. The matchup marks the first regular season meeting between the two schools since 2014, and the first meeting since Maryland defeated the Orange 16-8 in the 2016 NCAA Quarterfinals.
The Terrapins will also battle Princeton (2/26), Notre Dame (3/5) and Albany (3/12) before beginning its five-game Big Ten Conference schedule on March 27. Maryland and Notre Dame met in last year's NCAA Quarterfinals, with the Terps securing a thrilling overtime victory to punch their ticket to the program's eighth Final Four under Tillman.
Maryland returns the bulk of its roster that finished 15-1, won both the Big Ten regular season and tournament championships and finished National Runner Up in 2021, led by All-American attackman Logan Wisnauskas and All-American defenseman Brett Makar.
Dates, times and locations are subject to change based on TV designations. Maryland's matchup against Virginia on March 19 will be played either at Audi Field or Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium. Final confirmation of the game's location will be announced at a later date.
